Trip Highlights
1
Our 3-day gorilla trekking Bwindi safari from Kampala begins bright and early. Your professional driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel or Entebbe Airport and brief you on the adventure ahead.
We’ll travel southwest through Masaka District, stopping at the Uganda Equator for photos and a chance to stand in both hemispheres. From here, we continue past tea plantations, rolling hills, and traditional markets before enjoying lunch in Mbarara.
The final stretch takes us through Kabale, the “Switzerland of Africa” with breathtaking terraced hills, before reaching Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Here, you’ll settle into your lodge, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle, and prepare for tomorrow’s gorilla trekking adventure.
2
After an early breakfast, we head to the Bwindi park headquarters for a pre-trek briefing. You’ll learn the rules, regulations, and what to expect on a Bwindi gorilla safari from terrain to interaction guidelines.
Trekkers are placed into small groups of up to eight people and assigned a ranger guide. Depending on your allocated sector Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, or Nkuringo, you’ll trek through thick jungle, listening for signs of the gorillas. The trek can take between 2 to 8 hours depending on the gorillas’ movements.
When you finally meet a gorilla family, you’ll have one magical hour to observe their behavior, watching them groom, feed, and play. It’s a humbling and deeply moving experience, often described as one of the top wildlife encounters in the world.
After your trek, you’ll receive a gorilla trekking certificate to commemorate the experience, then return to your lodge for a well-deserved rest.
3
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast with the forest’s morning sounds before starting the journey back to Kampala. You’ll arrive back in Kampala or Entebbe in the evening.
