Your safari begins with a pick-up from your location in Kampala or Entebbe. You will be welcomed by your driver-guide who will brief you on the journey. The first leg of the trip takes you north with a special stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is Uganda’s only sanctuary for white rhinos, and you will enjoy a guided trek to track these magnificent creatures on foot. After the trek and lunch, you’ll continue the scenic drive through rolling landscapes to the town of Gulu. Upon arrival, you’ll check into your lodge for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
After breakfast, the journey continues north towards the remote and stunning Kidepo Valley National Park. The drive is long but offers incredible views of the rugged, untamed landscapes of northern Uganda. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge and have lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on your first game drive, focusing on the Narus Rivervalley, a permanent water source that attracts large concentrations of animals like buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and various antelopes. The game drive provides a fantastic introduction to Kidepo’s unique ecosystem.
Today is dedicated to exploring the vast wilderness of Kidepo. After an early breakfast, you will set off for a morning game drive in search of predators. Kidepo is one of the few places in Uganda to spot cheetahs, in addition to lions, leopards, and hyenas. You will also see large herds of elephants, buffaloes, duikers, and many other animals.
After lunch at the lodge, the afternoon takes you to the northern part of the park, near the Sudanese border, to visit the Kanangorok Hot Springs. The drive offers more wildlife viewing and stunning views of the surrounding mountains and plains. You will return to your lodge in time for dinner.
Enjoy another morning game drive, offering a final opportunity to spot any animals you may have missed. After lunch, you will leave the park for a memorable Karamojong cultural tour.
