Discover one of Africa’s last great wildernesses on this exclusive 3-day flying safari to Kidepo Valley National Park. By flying directly into the park, you skip the long overland journey, maximizing your time in this remote and breathtakingly beautiful landscape.
Kidepo is a land of vast, sweeping savannahs, rugged mountains, and an incredible concentration of wildlife, including species found nowhere else in Uganda. This tour is a perfect blend of thrilling game drives, authentic cultural encounters, and the pure bliss of staying in a truly wild and untouched corner of the continent. Prepare for an unforgettable adventure.
After a relaxed breakfast at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, your guide will pick you up and transfer you to the airport (Entebbe or Kajjansi) for your scenic flight to Kidepo Valley National Park. Enjoy the incredible views as the landscape below transforms into the rugged, semi-arid plains of the north.
Upon landing at the Apoka Airstrip, you’ll be met by your lodge’s guide and driven to your safari lodge. After checking in and enjoying a delicious lunch, you’ll have some time to relax, perhaps even spotting wildlife right from the lodge’s verandah. In the late afternoon, as the heat subsides, you will embark on your first game drive through the Narus River Valley. This is the park’s prime game-viewing area, and you can expect to see huge herds of buffalo, elephants, giraffes, and zebras, with a good chance of spotting lions and other predators.
An early start this morning allows you to catch the golden hour light as the savannah comes to life. Your game drive will explore deeper into the park, searching for Kidepo’s unique residents. This is one of the only places in Uganda to see cheetahs and ostriches in their natural habitat. After a rewarding morning, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch and some downtime.
In the afternoon, you will venture out of the park for a fascinating cultural encounter with the local Karamojong community. This is a respectful and authentic visit where you’ll be welcomed by the village elders to learn about their traditional way of life, their deep connection to their cattle, and their unique customs and beliefs. It’s a powerful and memorable cultural exchange.
On your final morning, you have a choice. You can enjoy a leisurely breakfast and simply soak in the wild atmosphere of the lodge, or you can opt for an exciting guided bush walk. Accompanied by an armed ranger, a walk is an incredible way to experience the wilderness on a more intimate level. You’ll focus on the smaller details – tracks, plants, insects, and the thrill of spotting animals like zebras and baboons on foot.
After your morning activity, you will return to the lodge for lunch. Later, you will be transferred back to the Apoka Airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe, carrying with you incredible memories of Uganda’s wild frontier. Upon arrival, a driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel.
