What is POATE?
The Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) is Uganda’s flagship tourism and travel trade exhibition, organized by the Uganda Tourism Board.
It brings together global tourism buyers, travel media, investors, tour operators, hospitality brands, airlines, conservation organizations, and local tourism businesses under one roof.
Each year, the expo takes place in Kampala at the Speke Resort Convention Centre, turning the city into a hub of global travel conversations.

Why the Name “Pearl of Africa”?
Uganda earned the nickname “Pearl of Africa” because of its extraordinary diversity — wildlife, landscapes, cultures, and warm people. From mountain gorillas and chimpanzees to the Nile River and vibrant kingdoms, the country offers one of the richest travel experiences on the continent.
