Safari Overview
This 16-day Uganda double gorilla trek and wildlife safari is an amazing safari that will expose you to Uganda's hidden treasures around the country. You will expect to visit around 6 national parks which are the most visited national parks in Uganda these are; Murchison Falls National Park a home to the African Big 5, you will visit Kibale Forest National Park a haven of chimpanzees, Semliki National Park, Queen Elizabeth national park Uganda's open savanna national park with unique wildlife including tree climbing lions, Bwindi national park a home to giant mountain gorillas and finally Lake Mburo National Park Uganda's highway national park and the nearest national park to Kampala city.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe and transfer to the hotel
Upon arrival, our driver guide will pick you up from the airport, he will brief you about the trip, and he will thereafter transfer you to the hotel where you will spend your night. You will check in at the hotel, have dinner, and relax as you wait for the next day's safari.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Arise in the morning at around 7 am, enjoy a delicious breakfast, check out, and be transferred to Murchison Falls National Park which is Uganda's largest national and the oldest as well, you will have an en-route to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary to engage in the rhino tracking, you will have lunch and proceed to Murchison falls. You will arrive in the evening, and connect to the lodge where you will have an overnight.
Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise
This is another day for you to encounter the beautiful wildlife, you will meet your driver guide and the ranger guide who will transfer you to the jungle in the early morning to catch the animals when they are still very active. Depending on the day's luck, you may encounter elephants, buffaloes, lions, and leopards (most rare) and in case you spot all, you will have completed the list of the big 5.
Other animals to encounter are bush backs, giraffes, hartebeests, baboons, birds, and beautiful scenery, you will return to the lodge in the midmorning for breakfast, relax, and have lunch and in the evening, you will engage in a launch cruise to the bottom of the falls, visit top of the falls as well, retire to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
This is another day where you will immerse yourself in the beauty of Uganda. Arise in the morning on a delicious breakfast, check out of the lodge, and be transferred to the Kibale another haven of beautiful sceneries, wildlife, and birdlife. You will have lunch en route in Fort Portal and then proceed to the park, you will arrive in the evening, check in the lodge, relax, have dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi Wetland
Wake up in the morning at around 7:00 am, enjoy a scrumptious breakfast, and meet your driver guide who will transfer you to the information center Kanyanchu where you will be briefed about the chimpanzee trekking, you will be assigned a chimpanzee family to track then head to the forest with a ranger guide who will be explaining and answering all your questions after you have met the chimpanzees, you will spend an hour with them take pictures and videos then return to the lodge for relaxation and prepare to visit Bigodi wetland home to birds like shoebill storks and other primates, you will record the last moments of the day and retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Semliki National Park
You will arise in the morning, have breakfast at leisure, check out, and transfer to Semliki National Park which is about a 3-hour drive from the Kibale to Semliki National Park. You will arrive in time for lunch, check-in, have lunch, and later in the evening engage in the game drive where you will encounter wildlife like forest elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes, visit Sempaya hot springs, retire to the lodge for dinner, and overnight.
Day 7: Check-out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Another day for you to unfold into another beauty, arise in the morning, have a delicious breakfast, check out, and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, this is Uganda's open savanna national park and you will enjoy how the park is decorated with wildlife and this will amaze you and make your safari a bundle of memories. You will arrive in the afternoon, check-in at the lodge, have lunch, relax, and overnight stay.
Day 8: Game drive and launch cruise on the Kazinga channel
Arise in the morning grab a scrumptious breakfast, meet your driver guide and a ranger, and then be transferred to the jungle to encounter wildlife in Kasenyi grounds and it is also known as the mating ground, you will encounter herds of elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, and these are Africa's big 4, you will return to the lodge in the midmorning, relax, have lunch and in the evening head out to Kazinga channel for the boat cruise.
You will enjoy seeing hippos, buffaloes, elephants, and crocodiles share the same pool, you will encounter birdlife among others. Retire to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 9: Transfer to Bwindi via the Ishasha sector
Arise in the morning, enjoy a mouthwatering breakfast, check out, and transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha where you encounter tree-climbing lions and they are only found in this park in Uganda. You will exit the park and proceed to Kabale where you will have lunch and connect to the lodge, have dinner, and wait for the extraordinary encounter with the gorillas.
Day 10: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural tour
An amazing day for you, you will have an early breakfast and be transferred to the briefing center where you will be educated about gorilla trekking etiquette. It is here where you will be allocated the gorilla family to track, and head to the forest with a ranger guide who is knowledgeable about the gorilla families, you will spend an hour after meeting the gorillas, taking pictures, enjoying how they will associating, enjoy the birds how they will be chirping in the forest, you will retire to the lodge to rest and in the evening head to the Batwa community.
Day 11: Gorilla trekking
This is another beautiful day for the gorilla enthusiasts and a second chance for you to encounter the gorillas, this is an enjoyable day for you to discover the hidden treasure about the gorillas. Gorilla trekking normally takes about 1 hour to 5 hours and always when you encounter the gorillas you are given 1 hour, you will retire to the lodge for relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 12: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Wake up at leisure, have breakfast, check out, and be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi which is the deepest lake in Uganda and it is the second deepest in Africa. You will spend about 2 hours, arrive in the afternoon at the lake, check-in, have lunch, and relax at the lodge as you catch a feeling for nature.
Day 13: Canoeing and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
This is an amazing day for you to enjoy the beauty of the deepest lake and visit 29 Islands on the canoe, you will encounter wildlife and birdlife, and if you are a good swimmer, Lake Bunyonyi is here for you to explore since it is bilharzia free, you will later check out, embark on the journey to Lake Mburo national park with a stopover in Mbarara for lunch. You will connect to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 14: Game drive and boat cruise on Lake Mburo National Park
Arise in the morning, grab a delicious breakfast, and transfer you to the jungle to encounter the animals when they are still very active. Expect to encounter herds of zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, leopards, hyenas, Elands, oribis, and impalas among other animals.
Return to the lodge in the midmorning for relaxation, have lunch, and in the evening engage in the evening boat cruise on Lake Mburo, return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 15: Guided nature walk and horseback riding
This is another great time for you when you wake up in the morning, have a delicious breakfast, and get your ranger guide who will transfer you to the jungle where you will get closer to nature. You will return to the lodge for relaxation, and lunch, and in the evening expect to get closer to nature while you are at the back of the horse, retire to the lodge in the late evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 16: Check-out and departure
This is going to be the last leg of your safari where you will arise in the morning, enjoy a scrumptious breakfast, pack your bags, check out of the lodge, and meet your driver guide who will transfer you to back Entebbe for your flight back home.
Have a stopover at the Equator to engage in the Equator experience, you can buy some souvenirs in case you want, have lunch, and then proceed to Entebbe to catch a flight back home or to other destinations.
