Overview.
The 5-Day Semliki National Park & Fort Portal Safari gives you a chance to explore both wildlife and culture in Fort Portal City. Visiting the Sempaya hot springs with the Amabere caves combined with crater lakes exploration.
You also have another adventure of visiting the Batooro and baking cultures at the Isunga cultural community, and crater lakes exploration through nature walks. Beautiful species that may be viewed while on this safari include the white and black colobus monkeys, olive baboons, vervet monkeys, and different bird species.
Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to a hotel.
On arrival, you will be picked up from Entebbe International Airport by the assigned driver-guide or tour representative of our company. He will give you a quick brief about the pearl of Africa and this 5-Day Semuliki National Park & Fort Portal Safari.
If you arrive early, you will visit of Uganda Wildlife Education Centre in Entebbe and observe wildlife in captivity. Among others here are the reptiles, bird species like the shoebill stock, and mammals like lions, and elephants, among others. Then transfer to a hotel in Kampala for accommodation.
Day 2: Transfer to Semuliki National Park.
Be served breakfast in the morning and then start a journey to Semuliki National Park. The journey is amazing passing through the valleys and hills, natural forests with primates like olive baboons, and tea plantations among others. Several stopovers are offered by the tour driver, one in Mubende town for refreshments and another in Fort Portal tourism city for lunch while others at the viewing points in the Rwenzori escarpments.
Semuliki National Park is one of the parks located in the ranges of Mount Rwenzori, and well famous for the Sempaya hot springs that contain water boiling at 110 degrees Celsius. It is one of the birder's havens with over 440 bird species and some cannot be spotted elsewhere. It has also mammals including primates like the black and white colobus monkeys and olive baboons. On arrival, you will check in the preferred booked accommodation.
Day 3: Visit the Sempaya hot springs and Amabere caves.
Head to the park offices and engage in a short briefing to learn more about the park and its attractions with the help of the park warden or park ranger guide. Take a nature walk through the forest and head to the hot springs which are male and female. They have a traditional story attached to them concerning their formation.
The experience of boiling either an egg or bananas is so amazing and therefore; you are required to carry something you need to boil in these boiling pans. Later after the experience, you will check out of your safari lodge room and embark on the journey back to the fort portal.
Head to Amabere Ganyimwiru caves and discover the traditional beliefs attached to the formation of the stalactites and stalagmites. The hugging rocks in the shape of human breasts produce a milky liquid over the years from the caves.
You have an option of hiking the Mwegenywa hill where you will be able to view 3 crater lakes that are Lake Kigere, Wabikere, and Saaka respectively, the Rwenzori range, and also Fort Portal City. Then you will transfer to a hotel for your accommodation in the evening with an option of nightlife.
Day 4: Cultural encounter and Toro palace visit.
Immediately after breakfast, transfer to Isunga Cultural Community on the edge of Kibale National Park to explore both the Bakiga and Batooro cultures. Learn and get entertained by their traditional dances, languages, traditional dishes, and traditional wear among others. Visiting the Isunga cultural community is worth an experience as you two cultures ago. You have the option of buying some souvenirs to remember the true African cultures.
After tasting the traditional dishes, you will head to Fortpotal and visit the Tooro palace. Tooro kingdom is headed by the youngest king in the world; the palace is located at Karuzika Hill in Fort Portal City. Visit the palace rewards you with the knowledge to know more about the culture of Batooro.
Day 5: Crater lakes exploration and transfer back to Kampala.
After breakfast, you will have an option of Crater Lake exploration and then head back to Kampala which will be followed by a drop-off at either a hotel or airport in Entebbe depending on your flight program.
