This 5 days gorillas and golden monkeys in Uganda is an amazing safari that will expose you the endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys in Uganda's smallest national park that is Mgahinga gorilla national park which is located in southwestern part of the country.

It is only in this park in Uganda where you can track mountain gorillas and golden monkeys in their natural habitat. After the fascinating experience, you will visit Lake Bunyonyi where you will spend a night as you relax while overlooking 29 Islands.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

On the first leg of your safari, our company representative will pick you from the hotel or at Airport, he will brief you about your safari and then embark on the journey. This is going to be a whole day travel but with stopovers like at the Equator where you will take pictures as you stand in the 2 hemispheres of the world.

Engage in the experience, proceed with the journey to Mbarara where you will be enjoying your lunch, after lunch embark on the journey as you enjoy the countryside beautiful highlands, homesteads and terraced farms. You will arrive at your accommodation in the late evening, check-in, have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

Arise in the morning, enjoy an early breakfast, get your lunch packed, meet your driver guide who will transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking etiquettes, after briefing you will be allocated a gorilla family to track, you will later hit the forest with the ranger guide who will lead you to the gorilla family allocated, this will take about 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on where you will find the gorillas, you will spend 1 hour with them as you see how they feed, how they breastfeed among other social behaviors. You will retire to the lodge in the evening after you have spent the whole day in the bush, relax and have an overnight stay.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park

You will wake up in the morning, greet your intestines with a scrumptious breakfast, meet your driver guide who will transfer you to the briefing center about the golden monkey trekking. Golden monkeys are easily found since you can take about 30 minutes to find monkeys, You will be allowed 1 hour to spend with the monkeys, monitor how they play, how they feed. You will also enjoy to spot other forest treasures for example forests, plants, you will return to the lodge, relax, enjoy your meals and the ambiance of the lodge.

Day 4: Check-out and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for canoeing

You will arise in the morning at leisure, enjoy your breakfast, check out and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi which is the deepest lake in Uganda with over 29 Islands, you will arrive during lunch time, check in the lodge, have lunch and embark on canoeing. The lake is surrounded by terraced farmlands, you will spot different birds, visit different Islands, return to the lodge at dusk, relax and have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Check out and departure

Arise in the morning, enjoy a scrumptious breakfast, check out of the lodge, meet your driver guide who will transfer you back to Kampala or Entebbe. This is another day for the long drive but so enjoyable, lunch en-route will be in Mbarara, proceed with your journey to be dropped at the Airport or at the hotel in Kampala depending on your preferred drop off.
