Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the hotel
Upon your arrival, our driver guide will be waiting to receive you and transfer you to your reserved hotel in Entebbe. You will check-in before he takes you through a briefing about your safari in Uganda after which you will have enough time to heal from your jetlag as you wait to have dinner and an overnight in the evening.
You may decide to visit a few places in Entebbe for an insight about Uganda before you make long drives up country. Best places to visit include the Uganda Wildlife Education center, Entebbe botanical gardens, reptile village and many more not forgetting the shopping malls to purchase some items that you might need during the course of your safari.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison falls via Ziwa and visit top of the falls
Arise early today morning and set off for a drive to Murchison falls National Park with a stopover at Ziwa rhino sanctuary where you will trek through the bush to encounter these majestic mammals in their natural habitat. This sanctuary is the only home to the only white rhinos in the country currently totaling up to 43 white rhinos.
You will spend up to an hour with them while you closely observe their social and feeding behaviors. Get back into your vehicle and proceed to Murchison with an en-route stop for your lunch in Masindi town which is just 21kilometers away from the Park. Check-in into the Park and proceed to the falls where you will make a hike to its top which is so engrossing. You will be ushered in by the roaring sound of the falls, rainbow as well as showers splashing water from the Nile. Enjoy yourselves at the falls while you take enough pictures and later proceed to your lodge to have dinner and an overnight.
Day 3: Morning game drive and evening boat cruise
Wakeup to a hefty breakfast and hit the northern section of the Park for game viewing where you will spotting several animals like giraffes, large herds of elephants, buffaloes, Jackson's hartebeest, oribis, warthogs, Uganda kobs, lions, leopards and many more. Several birds will as well be seen roaming the savannahs such as the Abyssinian ground hornbills, guineafowls, spurfowls to mention but a few. Return back to your lodge for lunch after which you will proceed for a boat cruise along the Nile River to the bottom of the falls. This is the best time experience the Park's aquatic life as you spot animals like hippopotamuses, crocodiles and several water birds. This activity lasts for about 2 hours before getting back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight.
Day 4: Depart for Kibale National Park and Bigodi wetland excursion
Have breakfast served and checkout to embark on your drive to Kibale National Park also known as the word's primate capital harboring to about 13 primate species. You will have lunch in Fort Portal town as you admire Uganda's beautiful scenery and get to prove why Fort Portal is the country's tourism city. Upon checking in at your lodge, you will proceed for a guided walk within Bigodi wetland.
This jungle swamp holds over 200 bird species including viable populations of the great blue turaco and several primate species that will be encountered along your walk. This walk lasts for about 3 hours after which you will return to your lodge to have dinner and an overnight.
Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and crater Lakes visit
Wakeup to a delicious breakfast and report to Kanyanchu visitors' center for a briefing of how you should conduct yourself during chimpanzee trekking. Ranger guides will lead you into the dense forests with machetes to clear your way as you embark on the search of our closest cousins. You will follow after their droppings, remains of their feeds as well as hoots and finding them go by their routine activities is so wondrous.
An hour is allowed close to the chimpanzees for you to clearly observe their behaviors. Return to the lodge for lunch and later in the evening make a visit to the Park's crater lakes believed to have formed many years ago by volcanicity involving violent eruptions. These crater lakes are a host to a variety of bird species, plant types as well as the best vintage points to capture beautiful scenery.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and evening game drive
Have a relaxed breakfast and meet your driver guide to be whisked to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The Park is known for its abundant wildlife including the African elephants, hippopotamuses, Uganda kobs, lions, leopard, spotted, hyenas, warthogs, waterbucks and many more. Lunch will be served at your reserved lodge after which you will head off for a game viewing experience through the Park's golden plains. Roam the Park in your popup safari vehicle for about 3 to 4 hours after which you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight.
Day 7: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
Arise to a hefty breakfast and return to the savannah plains as you look out for the early risers of the jungle as they try to grab a meal before it gets hot in the afternoon. Nocturnal animals such as the hippopotamuses, hyenas and many more will be spotted rush back to their hideouts. Get back to your lodge for lunch waiting cruise along Kazinga water cannel.
This water channel is a dominant feature of the Park known to host numerous animal and bird species that you will see up close and learn bout. This water channel is also a hippopotamus' paradise protecting more than 2,000 hippopotamuses which is one of the world's largest concentrations. Retire off the cruise to be driven back to your lodge to have dinner and an overnight.
Day 8: Depart for Bwindi and Batwa cultural experience
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and checkout to be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a stop en route in the Ishasha sector to have an experience of the tree climbing lions that will be seen lazing high up between fig tree branches while they try to target their next prey. Proceeding with your drive to Bwindi, arrival will be in the afternoon for your lunch after which you will head off to the Batwa communities for an insight into their culture.
Batwa people are the former inhabitants of the Bwindi forests and believed to have lived in harmony with the gorillas several years ago before they were evicted from the forests by the government to protect the gorillas. You will learn about their life style like the dressing code, starting fire by rubbing stick, local herbs they used, hunting and honey collecting techniques and many more. Dance to their cultural music before getting back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 9: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Breakfast will be served very early in the morning, have your packed lunch ready and report to the Park headquarters for a briefing about the dos and don'ts of gorilla trekking. You will be assembled into groups of maximum eight ember and assigned gorilla families by ranger guides that you will go trekking through Bwindi forests. Walking sticks will be provided to support you as you trek through steep slopes and dense forests to encounter gorillas in their natural habitats.
To encounter your assigned gorilla family may last for 2 to 6 hours and seeing these gentle giants up close for over an hour is an exhilarating and unforgettable experience. Trek back to where you started from and get back into your vehicle to be driven back to the lodge. You may decide to laze around your lodge with a simple snack or coffee after which you will check-out and hit the road for Lake Bunyonyi. You will arrive in the evening by 5pm to check-in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight.
Day 10: Whole day Island hoping at Lake Bunyonyi
Arise to a hefty breakfast and report to Lake Bunyonyi for the entire day where you will visit a few of the Lake's famous and most stunning Islands such as Akampane, Bushara, Bucuranuka, and Kyahugye. This lake has 29 islands all with historical significance that you will get to know for example the Punishment Island, Leper's Island, upside-down Island and many more.
Lunch will be served along the shores of the Lake for you to enjoy its scenic beauty. Later in the evening, you may decide to cruise along the Lake to capture its vats bird species. Retire off the Lake back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 11: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park and evening game drive
Grab yourself a cup of coffee and hit the road for a scenic drive to Lake Mburo National Park with a stop en route at Igongo cultural center and country hotel. You may decide to visit the Ankole museum if time allows. Proceed to the lodge to check-in and later head off for a game drive through the Park's grasslands. Animals to lookout for giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, leopards, warthogs, elands, Impalas and to mention but a few. Get back to your lodge to have dinner and an overnight stay waiting to walk with the Park's animals in the next morning.
Day 12: Guided nature walk and evening boat cruise
Have your breakfast very early and meet your ranger guide for a briefing about the do and don'ts of this activity. The ranger guide will guide you on this walking safari lasting for about 3hours as you learn about the Park's animals, birds, history of the Park, its impact to the neighboring communities and many more. Animals to walk with include giraffes, zebras, impalas, elands and many more.
Day 13: Transfer to Kampala for a city tour
Wakeup to a relaxed breakfast and checkout to meet your driver guide for a drive back to Kampala with a stopover at the Equator lone in Kayabwe where you will take enough pictures with feet standing in all the two hemisphere. Arrival in the center will be in the afternoon for your lunch and later experience Uganda's hospitality by making visits to the country's prominent regional and cultural sites, museums and many others.
Places to visit include the Gaddafi National Mosque, Uganda National Museum, Kabaka's palace and many more depending on the time available. Get back to your hotel before dusk and wait to have dinner and an overnight.
Day 14: Departure
Today enjoy your relaxed breakfast and be driven to Entebbe International Airport for your outbound flight back home. You will have ample time to reflect on your 14 days in the Pearl of Africa during your flight back home. Today marks the end of your safari and we will always be waiting to receive you for your next safari to Uganda.
